Salers young guns hit their targets with another big show season in the Lower South East of South Australia and Western Victoria.

During the shows in the Lower South East of South Australia and the Western districts of Victoria they have the usual beef cattle handler and judging competitions for juniors and seniors.  A number of shows also run another competition which is called the Young Judges Championships which includes cattle judging, meat sheep judging and fleece judging either run as a team event or an individual competition.

Emily, Cameron and Rachel hit their targets in numerous local shows in these competitions.

Rachel 1st Senior Handler competition.

The first target was hit at the Naracoorte show where it was an extremely hot day but was worth all the sweat when Rachel won first place in the Senior Handlers competition.

Rachel (in the middle) part of the winning school team. Thank you Mason (far right) for donating the prize steer.

The next show was Penola where they hold a school competition for the Young Judges Championships the day before the actual show.

Schools nominate teams of students who are required to judge cattle, meat sheep and fleece.  The scores of the team members are combined and the highest pointed team wins their school a weaner steer from Warrawindi for the led steer competition in the coming year.  Rachel (a Salers enthusiast) was part of this winning team who won the steer for their school against stiff competition from a large number of teams from other schools.

Millicent show is where Cameron and Emily certainly hit their targets!  They really did hit the bulls eye and walked away with the winnings.
